On the surface of Auriga, just under her North Pole, sits a magnificent treasure trove of information - the Husk of Knowledge - the greatest xenobiology research facility ever created by the Endless. It is a towering achievement of industry and science which highlights the brilliant genius of the Concrete Endless. While Auriga hosted a number of laboratories, biospheres, and other research centers on its surface and crust, after the bombs fell during the Dust Wars, this enormous installation became the greatest expanse of ruins -- and store of lost knowledge -- in the known galaxy. Should the laboratories ever be repaired and the data recovered, the scientific benefits to galactic civilization would be unimaginable.
We are the remnants and descendants of those who survived and adapted to the Eternal Winter. As the start of perpetual winter became clearly inevitable, the races and peoples of Auriga put aside their differences and united as one to ensure that even if all of us were to perish, at least the history of our planet would remain intact.
Now the Vaulters have returned to their home planet and established new communication lines between Auriga and Intergalactic Space. The Vaulters have also graciously shared their modern preservation technologies with us.
It is our mission to recover and repair Auriga's lost history and artifacts so that the Husk of Knowledge may once again stand proud as a monument of scientific ingenuity in our universe. As denizens of Auriga, we do not want the story of our home planet to simply remain as a tragic reminder of the consequences of reckless scientific experimentation. We want to recreate Auriga as a new center for Endless scientific research, a marvel that will dwarf the Endless Research Park. Restoration of the Husk of Knowledge and archival of all Aurigan research is the first step towards that goal.
